A Perfect Handmade Espresso Cups Set for Modern Life

As hand-thrown tableware, the handmade espresso cups are a miniature art piece, perfect for coastal and farmhouse homes with modern interior style. They are decorated with a chalk-white slip that I paint on with a firm brushstroke, turning with the movement of the clay. A dark ink blue coffee-bean-inspired dot is placed playfully at the beginning of the white effect, a bold moment in the calm design.

Sandy hues and a matt glaze finish create an unexpectedly contemporary twist, enhancing the earthen nature of the clay and imbuing the stoneware cups with the process of making. 

Individually Handmade Espresso Cups 

I hand-throw every little espresso cup on my potters’ wheel from my Devonshire studio, using Cornish stoneware clay sourced responsibly from a local family business.

The consistency of the White Impatience collection comes not from duplicating an item over and over. Instead, I throw every piece with a fresh set of eyes and a feel for the clay centred on the wheel. This means that these handmade espresso cups won’t match precisely but will pair with artisanal imperfectness, belonging together in their set of two.
