Pottery Lessons in Tiverton – for Adults

one to one pottery lessons in Devon

This service includes one 90-minute pottery lesson for one person. It takes place in my Devon studio (Tiverton, near Exeter).

All the materials you need (clay and tools) will be provided. If you want your creations fired and glazed, there will be a small, weight-based surcharge for each piece.

The pottery lessons are suitable for all levels of experience (adults and teenagers aged 16 and above).

Please note that I don't have the space for more than one person at a time, and there are no common areas for people to wait while you're working with me.

You will receive a confirmation email with the address and directions to the studio, as well as some information about your lesson.

PLEASE CHECK YOUR JUNK FOLDER IF YOU DON'T GET THE EMAIL!

You can choose your time slot using the booking form above.

Learning with integrity

Sabine effortlessly exudes patience, kindness and thoughtfulness in her manner. She's the real deal. If you are looking for a mentor who will tailor her teaching to suit her student's needs but who will do so with a focused and dedicated style then you have found her. I cannot recommend Sabine highly enough. I look forward to our next lesson.

A Perfect Experience

I always knew that I wanted to try pottery lessons and working with Sabine has not only fuelled a greater passion for throwing on the wheel but also inspired me to focus on enjoying the process rather than solely focusing on the product. The experience makes me feel so present and grounded thanks to Sabine and I am given the space to concentrate with the support to learn and improve. Also, I couldn't believe I walked away from my first ever lesson having made two bowls! I couldn't have been more lucky to find a teacher like her, I will definitely be back for more lessons. I would recommend her to anyone that is curious to try pottery lessons as it's the most fun I've had and a pleasure to learn more about her.

Excellent

Sabine is a great teacher. She is patient and supportive and an excellent guide. The facilities are everything you could ask for. It is peaceful and secluded so you can fully focus your attention. I'm very please to have found her for a teacher.

1 year of progress!

One year into learning pottery throwing with Sabine (one lesson a fortnight) and I’m blown away with how far I’ve come. Sabine has allowed me to grow creatively in a supported environment. I’m now comfortable with throwing vessels under 500 grams in weight; I’m able to throw bowls, plates and mugs (including pulled handles) and have covered some finer details for shape making such as collaring in and turning.

Not only have we been able to cover throwing, but I’m learning how to mix up glazes and how to pack a kiln.

We made a project plan for Christmas presents, understanding exactly what I was aiming to achieve and the amount of time we’d need to get everything fired for Christmas - which was a huge success! (Photos included!)

I honestly couldn’t thank Sabine more for the sheer amount of knowledge she’s shared with me, and am excited for another year, working with Sabine and larger weights of clay!

If you’re interested in seeing if pottery is for you, Sabine is the perfect patient teacher.

Birthday Gift

I bought this 90 min pottery lesson for my husband's birthday as he'd expressed an interest in throwing a pot on a wheel. He thoroughly enjoyed his 1 to 1 lesson with Sabine and said she was an excellent teacher (high praise from him). I think he was rather chuffed with the two bowls he made and is looking forward to collecting them when they have been fired.
