Natural Stoneware Bowls with a Grey Rim

Every miniature stoneware bowl is unique, the result of a combination of traditional techniques. A raw, natural style is prevalent throughout the making process, from the slight marks and wobbles leftover from throwing to the application of natural clay slips and the reactive lines that appear when firing.

Sculptural, functional and design-led, the sets of bowls have a dialogue with one another. Sweeps of slip are applied in instinctive, pure strokes. Even the dark rim of the bowls is not a uniform feature, instead used organically, allowing the slip to fall in changeable widths. Together, the slips layer over the stoneware bowls, fashioning patterns that are stunningly modern and comfortably familiar.

From my Devonshire studio, my work is constantly evolving as my knowledge and imagination build together to craft unexpected, beautiful ceramic pieces.
