Coastal Inspired Ceramics: White Large Bowl

Inspired by sea spray, cool breezes and the feel of sand between your toes, I finish each white ceramic bowl with a soft white clay slip that swirls like seafoam across the earthen stoneware. The two work together, ebbing and flowing through each unique dinner bowl.

A spot of ink-blue glaze is placed with intention in the centre of the large white bowl, a playful mark that pulls the coastal feel together.

Coastal and cool, the earthy tones are subdued by the whitewash effect glaze for a finish that is modern and timeless.

The handmade nature of stoneware ceramics allows natural variations to occur during throwing. The resulting bowls are full of character, working effortlessly as a collection while retaining their individuality.

I throw each bowl in conversation with the clay, embracing the marks and natural wonkiness that occurs while throwing. Every large ceramic bowl is wheel-thrown at my Devonshire pottery studio, using Cornish stoneware clay sourced responsibly from a local business, allowing me to continue to support pottery in the South-West.
